Human Impacts on the Local McMurdo Environment

A few nights ago a thought came to mind. I have worked out at the ice runway, which is several miles offshore. There is usually a black cloud hanging over it from airplane exhaust and I noticed it was quite warmer than onshore. A cool climatological study would be to: measure temp. on land and measure temp. at runway. Easy, simple, and just take readings at a few elevations. Compare the findings, see if the black exhaust cloud has an effect on surface temperatures, and see if there is any correlation with regional ice/snow melt rates.
